About Link Electric

“The American people, my friends, put me in business.” In 1924, John Link, an immigrant seeking opportunities in America, learned he had an uncle living in Louisville, KY. That uncle sponsored his passage to Ellis Island and the train trip to Kentucky from New York. Speaking no English when he arrived, Mr. Link worked on his uncle’s farm until he found work as an electrician for 25 cents an hour. He started his own company, Link Electric out of a small, home-based shop in 1930, realizing the American dream.

In 1986, Mr. Link sold shares of the business to five partners. One of the partners was electrician, Ricky George Sr.

New Leadership, A New Era

Mr. George began his career as an electrical apprentice in 1970 launching a lifelong journey of giving back to the electrical industry and its customers.  His passion for teaching and love of people met in 1974 while teaching his first class for the Louisville Electrical Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (LEJATC).  Over the next 50-plus years his efforts influenced the direction of training programs for electricians through his service as an instructor, board member, and Chairman of the LEJATC.   He also served as a member and Vice President of the Louisville Chapter of the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA).  He would eventually mentor hundreds of leaders in the electrical industry, many still working in the trade today.

In 1997 Ricky George Sr. became the sole owner of Link Electric and through his leadership, was instrumental in creating an energized environment of growth at Link.

Link Electric Today

Mr. George Sr. continues to build his legacy by mentoring staff and partners of Link. His son, Ricky George Jr. became an apprentice in 1995 through LEJATC and joined Link in 1999. He eventually purchased the company from his father in 2014, expanding the vision and accelerating the growth of the company. Ricky Jr. shares his father’s commitment to training and the electrical industry as a whole.  He is a member of the Kentuckiana Electrical Apprenticeship Board of Directors (LEJATC) and the current President of the Louisville Chapter of NECA.

Link Electric Company is a proud member of the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) and Is affiliated with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW).
